WhatsApp to Discontinue Support for Certain Smartphones on December 31, 2022

After December 31, 2022, WhatsApp will no longer be available on certain smartphones due to outdated operating systems. The company will issue a warning message to users of these devices before suspending the app’s services. In a statement, WhatsApp explained that it regularly reviews supported operating systems and makes updates accordingly. It also noted that older devices may not have the latest security updates or sufficient functionality to run the app. The list of affected smartphones includes the iPhone 5 and 5c, various models from Huawei and LG, and several Samsung and Sony models. Users with iPhones can update their operating systems by going to the “General” settings and selecting “Software Update.”
