Pakistan and India Exchange Lists of Nuclear Installations and Prisoners

Pakistan and India have exchanged lists of their respective nuclear installations and facilities in accordance with the Agreement on Prohibition of Attacks against Nuclear Installations and Facilities between the two countries. The agreement, which was signed in 1988 and ratified in 1991, requires the countries to inform each other of their nuclear installations on January 1st of each year. The exchange of lists has taken place annually since 1992. In addition, the two countries also exchanged lists of prisoners in each other’s custody, as required by the Consular Access Agreement of 2008. The lists were exchanged at the respective embassies in Islamabad and New Delhi. Pakistan requested the early release and repatriation of 51 civilian prisoners and 94 fishermen who have completed their sentences, as well as consular access to missing defence personnel from the 1965 and 1971 wars and special consular access to 56 civil prisoners.
