Former Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri files petition against FIA notices

The former deputy speaker of the National Assembly, Qasim Khan Suri, has filed a petition with the Lahore High Court against notices issued to him by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a complaint lodged by journalist Saleem Safi. Through his counsel, Mr. Suri submitted that the FIA issued the notices on a complaint that did not constitute an offense under the Electronic Crime Act 2016. He argued that the FIA’s action was politically motivated and that his tweets, which were the basis of the complaint, did not constitute an offense. The petitioner requested the court to set aside the FIA notices as they were illegal.
